Band

The Dyer School Band program begins in the 6th grade with the Beginner Band, where students learn the musical skills they need to become members of the Junior High Band. The 7th and 8th grade Junior High Band learns more advanced musical concepts and participates in several performances throughout the year, such as Murray Quad State Honor Band, UTM Honor Band, Solo & Ensemble, All West Honor Band and the annual Christmas and Teapot Parades. Both the Beginner and Junior High Bands present a Christmas and Spring Concert each year. The Dyer Band booster Organization funds uniforms, some instruments, travel and a yearly band banquet for the students. The band program is under the direction of Mrs. Calyn Evans.

Beta Club

The Dyer Junior Beta Club is limited to Students in grades 6 to 8 who maintain a semester average of 90 or above and conduct themselves in such a way as to bring honor on themselves and fellow members. A special project this year is the creation of an English courtyard on the grounds of the school. The Beta Club also helps stock the community pantry at Christmas. Other service projects include assisting the American Heart Association for Valentine's Day. The Dyer Junior Beta Club has had several state officers. The National Beta Club website is found here. The Beta Club also operates a bookstore for school supplies. Following are the prices:

Cheerleading

The Dyer Junior High cheerleaders are made up of twelve girls in grades 6 to 8. They cheer at every home and away football and basketball game. The sponsors are Ms. Mandi Hunt and Ms. Dena Thetford.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) is open to all students in grades 5-8. FCA is student led and meets the first Friday of each month. FCA is sponsored by Tracy Garner, Mandi Hunt, and Reed Walton. Also, some FCA students meet weekly for Prayer Circle, which is also student led, and open to all students grades 5th-8th grade.

Music

Grades K to 5 meet for music once weekly. Currently the 5th graders are learning to play recorders and read music. The 3rd and 4th graders are learning to read music and the K to 2nd graders are working on lots of songs. An annual music program is held each spring and involves all students in grades K to 5. Ms. Denise Coleman is the Music Teacher.

Student Council

The Dyer Student Council is made up of elected representatives from grades 5 to 8 and a set of officers. The Student Council sponsors a Verteran's Day program, "Pack the Pantry" at Christmas, and various other activities. The Student Council is sponsored by Ms. Tammy Ladd.
